About 8 00 or 9 00 tonight. Chopper 5 is live over mission bay in San Francisco where a massive fire torched this building under construction. Crews are on scene for the third day cleaning up and containing hot spots. Its a big pile of rubble right now and crews have been slowly tearing down the building before it collapses on itself. Kpix 5 reporter Juliette Goodrich is live with an update on the demolition. Juliette. Reporter liz, a lot of activity going on throughout the day. Firefighters are on standby checking for hot spots. Just a few minutes ago, there was a hotspot that they had to put out that started to flare up. Firefighters say the danger is far from over. Its been a tricky operation trying to stabilize the pile of rubble. The demolition is full speed ahead. Crews knocking down the mission bay structure piece by piece to prevent collapse a scene much different than tuesdays five alarm inferno. The only difference with this system there arent as many hydrants around so we might a longer hose lead depending on the area of the city. Reporter there are parts of the city that dont have any High Pressure hydrants. Its the San Francisco that didnt exist in 1913.
