Happening today, some new mandatory water restrictions take effect in parts of southern Alameda County impacting customers of the Alameda County Water District which is serves fremont, union city and newark. They approved the restrictions last night to save water. More than 300,000 people cannot water landscape on consecutive days and watering will be allowed only one day a week in april and may and from next december through march. It will be allowed twice a week from june through september. There are a few exceptions, though. Places like schools, parks, daycare centers, golf courses where they have a lot of turf that serves the public benefit. They get an extra day of per week of watering. Violators will just get warnings but after three offenses their service could be terminated, fines or jail. There is new evidence to support the possibility the disappearance of a Malaysia Airlines jet could have been deliberate. Now the search area has just been expanded to the west. The plane may have flown another 4 hours after contact was lost. Cbs news has confirmed two Communications Systems on board flight 370 were shut down and that raises the possibility last weeks disappearance of the plane with 239 aboard was a deliberate act. People all over the world are helping in the search for the missing plane. And they are part of a virtual search using satellite images on a website. The images come from five satellites owned by digital globe in colorado. So many people are logging on to help, the website crashed several times. But by this afternoon, becoming mostly sunny and a lot of that fog is going to disappear even along the coastline. Lets plan on 70s. Maybe 73 degrees in san jose. 71 in oakland. Were still before 5 00 so i have my list of overnight roadwork still out there in lanes including both directions of the eastshore freeway right now. Westbound and eastbound youll find various lanes blocked between powell and buchanan. So fortunately its still early enough were not seeing much of a delay because of it. Same thing up and down the nimitz freeway. This morning its northbound northbound 880 oak to washington three left lanes closed until 5 00. A lot of this overnight roadwork will be wrapped up in 20 minutes. Bay bridge various lanes blocked incline to treasure island. They have been doing that about every morning for the last many months. Sprinklers run throughout the building. Reporter brad mooney is project manager for scm construction. So we have five levels of wood above two levels of concrete. Reporter while their project is 60 complete, they are at a very vulnerable and risky stage like mission bay. At this point fire Rating Systems arent installed completely. The mission bay project had green sheathing and you can see where it didnt burn. In the mission bay complex, there were no sprinklers or fire suppression. Inside was a check made out to miranda in the amount of 2,850 with the memo, pay to the bearer. Miranda, who didnt want to be on camera, did a doubletake. I was really shocked because i dont know anyone at stanford, had no kind of connection to them ever. So it was a big surprise. And my daughter and i were laughing, who would do Something Like this . Reporter miranda still doesnt know and apparently neither does the stanford math department. Miranda called the department and was told others had received similar packages. Stanford, to my surprise, said they had gotten 25 to 30 other emails and that they had still not reported it. Reporter stanford did Call University police, who launched an investigation into what may be some sort of a hacking case. In another twist, the actual checks are not from a stanford account. They are from title 365 from southern california. The company said the checks are not real and the case is under investigation by their legal department. The university declined an interview request but a spokesman said, we do not have any information about how or why these mailings were sent using the departments fedex account, and we are not aware of any similar cases occurring elsewhere on campus there is no privacy anywhere. Some researchers say those chemicals found in items like childrens bedding and paint strippers can cause cancer. When were tucking our children into bed, when were fumbling around the house trying to make home repairs, we really want to think that somebody else has made sure that the products that were using are safe. Companies could potentially be banned from the state if they dont get rid of those toxic products. Happening today, the Obama Administration will propose some new rules to protect students at forprofit colleges. The goal is to reduce the chances of amassing huge debt they cant pay off. The rules would penalize programs that produce graduates without the training needed to find a job. Starting in 2016, schools that dont comply would lose access to federal student aid programs.
