India News: This year’s Republic Day witnessed the comeback of the horse-drawn ‘buggy’ after a gap of 40 years as President Droupadi Murmu and her French counterpart Macron travelled in the traditional carriage to the Kartavya Path for the parade. The women dominated the parade this time. This was the first time in the history of the Delhi police force when its marching contingent comprised only women personnel.
The Indian Army showcased several indigenous systems that it has acquired over the years, including Pinaka Multi Barrel Rocket Launchers, Swathi Weapon Locating Radar System and the NAG Missile system. The army s T-90 tanks, Infantry Combat Vehicles, and newly acquired. All Terrain Vehicles were also part of the parade, besides its medium-range surface-to-air missile system. Its marching contingents included the Madras Regiment, The Grenadiers, Rajputana Rifles, Sikh Regiment and the Kumaon Regiment. The Indian Navy had a marching contingent consisting of 144 men and women Agniveers and its tableau showcased the indigenous Vikrant aircraft carrier and its escort ships.
The Republic Day 2024 parade will begin at 10.30am. The ceremony will start with the visit of PM Narendra Modi to the National War Memorial. | Latest News India
