Between June 11 and 12, heavy showers are expected over many parts of Northeast India. Around June 13 onward, some parts may see very heavy rains. Most vulnerable areas will be Assam and Meghalaya.
Normal or active monsoon conditions are expected to continue over Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh during the next two to three days. Thereafter, rain activities may intensify over remaining parts of Northeast India also.
Southwest Monsoon has reached parts of Northeast India and has just touched the states of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Now, conditions have become favourable to cover the entire Northeast India very soon within about 48 hours or so. With this, Southwest Monsoon is near on time over the Northeast Indian region.
For the next few days, expect rains to be heavy due to the strong south-westerly winds that have been blowing from the Bay of Bengal. Rains will be heavy to the extent of increasing the levels of water bodies, which may further cause some flooding over Northeast India.
Intense rains are expected to pick up again over Northeast, particularly for Assam & Meghalaya. Southwest monsoon is likely to reach anytime soon after making onset over Kerala. Mostly, light to moderate rains with isolated heavy falls are expected over the next 3 days.
