Pre monsoon activities are going on over almost entire country since last 2 to 3 days. Parts of Odisha, Jharkhand and isolated pockets of West Bengal have received good rain during last 24 to 48 hours. However, Bihar and Jharkhand as well as eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh have not witnessed any significant rainfall.
For these areas, rains will be light to moderate on March 17. Intense rains may be seen on March 18, 19 and 20, some parts may see heavier showers with rains being between moderate to heavy. March 21 will see a reduction in rainfall while clearance may be seen starting March 22.
Eastern parts of the country across Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal have remained completely dry this winter season. And, irony is that, there is no likelihood of winter showers, anytime in the near future.
Eastern parts of the country repeated poor show, both in December and January. States of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal were completely parched during both, December and January. Even, neighbouring states of Chhattisgarh and Odisha also put up a dismal show during this period.
Rain distribution is scary this season and detrimental for the health of crops, particularly so for small farmers. Even, East Uttar Pradesh, adjacent to Bihar has witnessed large deficit for the entire duration.
