Kansas City Public Schools will close two of its elementary schools at the end of the academic year. It's says parents and community groups can play a part in ensuring more don't end up shuttered.
Facing declining enrollment, the district is proposing closing two high schools and eight elementary schools. Officials say the closures are necessary in order to offer students elective courses and specialized learning.
Kansas City Public Schools Superintendent Mark Bedell said that while the district is celebrating regaining its full accreditation, they "have a lot of work to do."
