Lee County, IA- The first day for in-person absentee voting for the November 8th general election in Lee County is Wednesday, October 19th. The Pen City Current reports that residents can vote at the County Auditor's Office, 933 Avenue H in fort Madison, Monday through Friday from 8:30 Am to 4:30 PM, or at the Courthouse in Keokuk from 8 AM to Noon and 1 PM to 4:30 PM. In-person absentee voting lasts until November 7th at 4:30 PM. The offices will also be open for voting on Saturday, November 5th from 9 AM to 5 PM. The deadline for absentee ballots being sent by mail is 5 PM Monday, October 24th. All absentee ballots must arrive at the county Auditor's Office by November 8th at 8 PM.
Keokuk, IA- The Lee County Health Department will be hosting a children's immunization clinic Thursday, October 13th. The clinic will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2330 Plank Road, in Keokuk. The Pen City Current reports that anyone attending the clinic is asked to park on the south side of the building and enter the door marked "handicapped." The clinic is open to children without insurance, insured by Iowa Medicaid, or those with private health insurance that does not cover the costs of vaccines. Lee County, IA- A St. Paul man has been charged with homicide after an accident that took place in March 2021, on US 61 south near Fort Madison. The Pen City Current reports that 27-year-old Robert Lavern Keith of St Paul has been charged with Homicide by Vehicle Reckless Driving for his involvement in the March 2021 accident that killed 62-year-old Andy Joe Annegers of Gladstone, Illinois. Annegers was driving a farm tractor when another vehicle, driven by Keith, struck the tractor from behind, causing the tractor to drive into the west ditch. Annegers died at the scene. Keith was arrested on Thursday, September 22nd, 2022, and is being held at the Lee County Jail.
