(File photo) PATNA: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday indirectly hinted that he might get removed midway like Karpoori Thakur because he has been working for the welfare and progress of all sections of the society just like the veteran socialist leader. “Karpoori Thakur Ji, as the CM, worked for the welfare of all sections of the society but he was removed from the post within two years. We too are working in the interest of all sections of society. Sometimes, some people get annoyed because of working in the interest of all sections of the society,” Nitish said while addressing an event organised at the JD(U) office to commemorate Jannayak Karpoori Thakur on his birth anniversary.

(TOI photo) PATNA: A heated exchange was witnessed here on Friday between Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and journalists when they nettled him over a high-profile murder case that rocked the state capital earlier this week. Kumar was talking to reporters after dedicating to the public the first phase of Atal Path , a Rs 379.57 crore elevated multiple lane road project that promises to drastically reduce traffic congestion in a major part of the city. As the chief minister began to speak about the improvement in infrastructure since he assumed power a decade and a half ago, he was interrupted by journalists who insisted that law and order has deteriorated, citing the example of a young official of a private airlines having been gunned down outside his residence in the city Tuesday evening.

Representative image AURANGABAD: Heroin and opium worth Rs3.5 crore were seized from a house at Siris village under Barun police station area in Aurangabad district on Wednesday. The house belonged to Md Israar Ansari and his brother Md Aslam Ansari. No one was arrested. “Both are absconding. An FIR has been lodged with Barun police station under relevant sections,” sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Anup Kumar told reporters on Wednesday. He said the raid was conducted on a tip-off. “During the raid, 660 grams of heroin and 1kg of opium worth Rs3.5 crore in international market were seized. After examination, it has been confirmed that the seized articles are heroin and opium,” he said.
