Oneida, Herkimer: 5 Deaths Reported, New Cases Drop
It s now 54 days in a row that Oneida County has lost at least one residents to COVID-19.
Monday s report included news of three new deaths, as the county has now lost 295 lives to the deadly virus. More than half of those fatalities have come during that 54-day span mentioned above.
There were 155 new positive cases announced Monday, about half of the approximately 300 cases Oneida County has reported many times during the post holiday surge, is the lowest single day total in the county since Christmas Day.
Hospitalizations involving Oneida County residents was 175, with 160 in local hospitals and 15 outside the county.
Oneida County has now reported at least one coronavirus death for 50 straight days.
The county s latest update on Thursday included four new deaths, pushing the total death toll from the virus up to 281. The sobering streak of days with a local resident dying from the virus dates back to November 25th, the day before Thanksgiving, and continued in Thursday s report which reflect numbers from January 13. Health officials also reported 213 new positive test results. Since March, the county has had 15,642 infections.

Oneida-Herkimer Daily COVID Update For January 13
Oneida and Herkimer counties both report new COVID-19 related deaths, and once again approximately 300 new cases combined.
Oneida County continued a very sad streak in Wednesday s coronavirus update as three more county residents have died from the virus. The county has gone 49 consecutive days with at least one death each. The county s overall death toll is now closing in on 300, with 277 deaths attributed to the disease since March.
The county also added another 234 cases, which pushed the active case total up to 6,699.
Hospitalizations remained relatively unchanged. There are 177 infected county residents being treated in the hospital, 163 in county hospitals and 14 more outside the county.
