COVID-19 Daily Report for Oneida-Herkimer Counties
For the second consecutive day, no deaths were included in the daily COVID-19 updates for Oneida and Herkimer counties.
Oneida County added 30 new COVID positive cases. After a streak of several days that saw new cases total into the low- and mid-40 s, the county has seen three-straight days of fewer that 40 cases. The county s 3-day average had grown into the mid-40 s. That latest report on Wednesday has the 3-day average at 30.
And, once again, hospitalizations among county residents and active cases are holding steady. There are 459 known, active cases in Oneida County as of Wednesday - again staying in the 450-490 range for three weeks running.
Oneida County Suffers 400th COVID Death
While new positive cases of coronavirus are staying relatively low locally, Oneida County has reported another COVID death, it s 400th since the pandemic began.
The latest death is not reflected in data below, but here is a look at the number of deaths by age group, according to Oneida County health officials:

It s clear older demographic is most vulnerable to the virus, as the above graph shows 345 of the 400 deaths are 65-plus.
Oneida County reported 33 new positive cases in Friday s report. The new cases increased the county s active case total to 456, up by only 5, but ending a three-week run that saw active cases decline each day.
Again No Local COVID Deaths, New Cases Remain Low
Make if five straight days that Oneida County has gone without a COVID-19 death.
As we mentioned in Monday s report, five consecutive days is the longest the county has gone without a virus-related fatality since Halloween. There were 32 new COVID positive cases added in the latest report on Tuesday. To date, Oneida County has seen 19,712 lab-confirmed cases of the virus.
The active case total was down slights from the previous day, falling from 495 to 484. Monday s report marked the first time in nearly four months that county s active case number dipped below 500.
The county's own statistics provided daily to local media reflect more than 5,400 lab confirmed, COVID positive test results - a discrepancy of almost 1,000 cases in that county alone.

There were no COVID deaths reported in Oneida or Herkimer counties in the latest update from health officials on Wednesday.
Oneida County continues to see fewer and fewer virus-related deaths. Wednesday s update marked the third time in the last five days the county didn t lose a life to coronavirus. The county did add 45 new cases.
Oneida County s seven day average for new cases per day in is in the mid-forties. That s a slight uptick from last week, where the seven-day average dropped into the 30 - but still a far cry from the area s peak that saw most days with a new case total above 300.
