Deadline to enroll for Ohio Agriculture Conservation Initiative Farmer Certification Program is March 31

The Ohio Agriculture Conservation Initiative (OACI) released a video to encourage farmers to sign up for the OACI Farmer Certification program through the mobile app to help increase adoption of best management practices and recognize farmers who demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement. Enrollment has been simplified for the OACI Farmer Certification Program, which will help farmers take conservation programs to the next level. Farmers participating in the H2Ohio program must be enrolled by March 31, 2021. “Enrolling is easier than ever with the new streamlined account set up,” said Kris Swartz, northwest Ohio farmer and OACI chair. “Farmers can enroll using the mobile app or through our website when and where it’s most convenient. After enrolling, farmers will be eligible to become certified in 2021.”

Winter beef and forage meetings set Tony Nye - OSU Extension This winter the OSU Beef Team is offering a variety of educational programs online, beginning with Making Hay for Beef Cattle on Jan. 18. In total, six programs are presently scheduled focusing on everything from feed and forage management to managing the breeding season. Extension offers winter programs Staff Report POMEROY 2020 was an odd year, to say the least. 2021 is even starting on a rainy note too. While many activities stopped, evolved, or got pushed back, our agricultural community has continued to work. Animals need cared for, crops need planted, treated, and harvested, timber needs to be harvested, inspected, and delivered for processing, raw ingredients need packaged for delivery to restaurants (even if they are take-out only) and grocery store shelves need stocked. The bottom line is that our food, fiber, timber, and related industries have been working overtime to keep America moving! To help those industries keep providing everything from fresh fruit to chicken tenders to plywood and (GASP) toilet paper, OSU Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources Staff have been working to provide support.
