Odd-even In Delhi: The Delhi government has prepared a draft proposal for the implementation of the odd-even road rationing system from November 13 to November 20. The proposal exempts certain vehicles, including those used for medical emergencies, vehicles with women and children, electric vehicles, and vehicles for persons with disabilities. Violations of the system will result in a fine of INR 20,000. The Supreme Court has expressed doubts over the effectiveness of the scheme in controlling pollution. The government is awaiting the court s directive before announcing the details of the norms to be followed.
After Supreme Court s stern warning to states on combating the alarming pollution levels in Delhi-NCR, the Delhi government has said it will implement the Odd-Even vehicle scheme after incorporating the orders of the Supreme Court in its detailed planning. The Punjab government, which was at the receiving end over stubble burning, said it has taken all possible steps to check the menace. Punjab minister said the government has held discussions with farmers and has appealed to them not to burn stubble and to choose alternative crops.
