The government last week postponed the implementation of the scheme, which permits cars to operate on alternate days based on the odd or even last digit of their registration numbers, after a notable improvement in the city’s air quality due to rain on Friday.
As Delhi s Air Quality Index (AQI) reaches severe levels ahead of Diwali, the Delhi government has implemented the odd-even scheme. The scheme allows vehicles with odd-numbered registrations to ply on odd dates, and vehicles with even-numbered registrations on even dates. The scheme will be in effect from November 13 to November 20, with possible extensions if there is no improvement in AQI.
