The owner of a day spa in Vestavia Hills is facing additional charges.Capt. Shane Ware of the Vestavia Hills Police Department says the VHPD Special Investigations Unit obtained a total of 11 warrants against Levan Johnson, 43.Capt. Ware says each warrant is for Sexual Abuse First Degree.Johnson, the owner of the Oasis Day Spa and Wellness Center, remains in the Jefferson County Jail on bonds totaling $660,000.Capt. Ware says this is still an ongoing investigation and additional charges could be filed.

UPDATE: Court records and a Jefferson County jail log confirmed a Vestavia Hills spa operator now faces 13 sexual abuse charges. The jail log lists the charges as Sexual Abuse 1st Degree - Sex Contact Compulsion.
Levan Johnson, operator of the Oasis Day Spa in Vestavia Hills, was arrested and charged with sexual abuse in January.

A young Jefferson County woman looking forward to getting her first therapeutic massage ended up a sexual assault victim and has been living a nightmare for weeks.
The 26-year-old woman earlier this month saw that a Vestavia Hills massage parlor was offering a special for health care workers and first responders as a sign of appreciation for their efforts amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Christian McBride is a man of many titles.
All of this is to say that McBride, also the host of “Jazz Night in America” on National Public Radio, had several fronts from which to view the artistic, business and personal toll of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
“NJPAC, Jazz House Kids, Jazz Museum in Harlem, Newport Jazz Festival, every organization I’ve been involved with, everybody’s running,” McBride said. “It’s both a sprint and a marathon, so everybody’s running hard and fast trying to stay out there.”
So it’s gone across our region, as folks from every walk of life have worked tirelessly to simply survive and see the next day.
