Streets. City attorney david chu tells me city workers are offering housing to the unhoused. And over half of them are declining services. The dispute comes after the coalition on homelessness sued the city in december of 2022, limiting Law Enforcement of the existing ordinance against sitting, lying or sleeping on public property. They cant cite or arrest Homeless People who have no other choice but to be on the streets. Its made it very challenging for us to move forward with a compassion based approach of services and shelter while also being able to maintain safe and clean streets.
