A Navy Spokesperson tells me that they are currently in a sort of a standby mode waiting to see how to proceed. Now that spokesman also tells me that if there is no deal in place, there will be navy ships in the bay, but theyll simply be conducting routine military business on loading and offloading crew, fueling up that type of thing. There will be no tours and no blue angels air show. Fleet week is one of San Franciscos fall signature events. The blue angels take to the skies and military ships fill the bay. But congress has not passed a funding deal yet, and that could jeopardize next weeks scheduled fleet week. At this point, organizers say, quote, San Francisco fleet week is standing by to take guidance from the navy and our other military partners. Politics could take a couple of the busiest days of the year off the table. They did a shutdown on it just would be im not going to say catastrophic, but its just not going to help. Its going to make things worse. Our Business Owner says if he ran luca deli like the federal government has run, hed be out of business. As for sf fleet week, at this point, they say its simply too early to say exactly what fleet week will look like. They say they are continuing to make adjustments and are in communication with their military counterparts. Were live in San Francisco. Cristian captain ktvu fox two news. Ktvu is Amanda Quintana with why Industry Experts say they believe we are seeing the latest increase in how drivers are dealing with the spike. What was your first reaction when you saw the price this morning . Oh wow. For many, the rise in gas prices is shocking, but not surprising. Unfortunately. Its just become kind of a way of life nowadays where you just arent even surprised anymore. The gas prices just are constantly going up and i just kind of expect to come to the car wash and spend like 90 or 100 bucks to fill up my car. So why have prices gone up . The ap says saudi arabias decision to cut back on the amount of oil it sends to Global Markets has pushed prices higher. Its been slashing production since july and will extend the cut through the end of the year. But thats just one piece of the puzzle. A lot of that has to do with the extenuating circumstance cases this year. Refinery issues that have been hitting for most of the country in late august, coupled with the fact that oil prices are at their highest level since november of last year, is kind of created. This unique piece in the fall that we tend to see in the summer months, according to triple a, the National Average for a gallon of regular gas today is 3. 84. In california, its 5. 82. And thats more than 0. 50 more than the average here a month ago, on friday, the states director of the new division of Petroleum Market oversight released his own list of reasons why prices are so high, including blaming a single isolated trade on californias spot market. The internal market where gas is sold in bulk. In a letter to governor gavin newsom, the director said the transaction caused the price per gallon to rise by nearly 0. 50. That one trade likely cost california millions of dollars at the pump, forcing people to adjust their budgets. As i put aside at least 150 for gas and i cant always fill it up. So its like 20 here, 20 there sometimes rethink what theyll do on their lunch break. Maybe just have a coffee break and its cheaper than i go home. And some are even considering leaving california probably one of the most expensive places to live in the world now. And with gas prices and Everything Else always costing a lot of money, its just starting to be taxing on us. If you look at the average price of gas, the most expensive counties in the bay area are san mateo, San Francisco, marin, sonoma and napa. The cheapest is solano in walnut creek.
