Nagaland to host agriculture schemes review meeting

Our Reporter Dimapur, Nov. 11 (EMN): A review of major programmes and schemes of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, government of India, for all the North eastern states would be held on November 12 at Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Medziphema, under the chairmanship of Union Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Manoj Ahuja. An update from the Ministry of Agriculture and Family Welfare informed that the department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, government of India, in collaboration with department of Horticulture and Agriculture, government of Nagaland, would jointly review and discuss on schemes being implemented in North eastern region such as National Mission on Edible Oil (oil palm), National Mission of Edible Oilseeds, Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCD-NER), Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), Formation and promotion of Farmer Producers Organisation

Nagaland Agriculture Production Commissioner advocates entrepreneurship culture for economic growth

Our Reporter Dimapur, Oct. 7 (EMN): Reminding that there is time for everything, Nagaland Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC), Y Kikheto Sema, stated that it is high time for the Nagas to usher in peace and development and also work out plans to instill the importance of work culture, self-reliance and entrepreneurship culture to promote economic growth in the state. Sema stated this at the one-day workshop to promote entrepreneurship culture in Nagaland, organised by Agri and Allied department and sponsored by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), government of India, at Rhododendron Hall of the Police Complex in Chümoukedima on October 7. Informing that the concept of entrepreneurship culture has shown positive trend post COVID pandemic, Sema stated it now time to all logistical support. MSME schemes should not go wasted — APC - Eastern Mirror

Dimapur, Oct. 3 (EMN): Nagaland Agriculture Production Commissioner, Kikheto Sema, convened a meeting with Agri. and allied officials on Monday to and deliberated on a workshop for availing MSME schemes scheduled to be held on October 7. In the meeting, APC Nagaland said that there are several schemes/ projects under the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and felt that the Naga entrepreneurs should avail the schemes instead of letting it go wasted, a DIPR report stated. Sema said the workshop, especially for availing MSME schemes, will be conducted by MSME officials and successful entrepreneurs from the mainland where genuine Naga entrepreneurs will be given the platform. World Bank team visits project sites - Eastern Mirror

Dimapur, Aug. 31 (EMN): Officials from the World Bank accompanied by Nagaland Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC), Y Kikheto Sema, and the line departments visited Boke-Botsa project on Naga Integrated Settled Farming (NISF) under ‘Enhancing landscape and eco-system management project’ (ELEMENT) on Wednesday. According to an official report, the World Bank officials had an intensive interaction with the farmers implementing NISF, where the farms are being cultivated along with other income generating activities like piggery, fish farming and sericulture with catchment area at the top. It stated that the farmers were provided with 50,000 litre capacity water tank for off season cultivation of vegetables, facilitating double cropping which would promote settled cultivation and thus conserve and manage the eco-system. The team also visited jhum fields at Pheshunyu and Phentejon villages under Tseminyu district and interacted with the jhum farmers and also obtained firsthand know

Sumi community inaugurates cemetery in Kohima

Our CorrespondentKohima, June 11 (EMN): Nagaland Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC), Y Kikheto Sema, inaugurated a new Sumi cemetery in Kohima at Keyake (BSF Camp) Colony on Saturday. Mentioning that Nagas and the Christians alike give importance to graveyards, Kikheto Sema stated that the state’s former chief minister, KL Chishi and family, donated the land to Kohima Sumi Hoho (KSH) to fulfill the burning desire of the people. He has acknowledged the magnanimity of the P Khel of the Kohima village for allowing them to set up the cemetery within their jurisdiction. He further commended the leadership of KSH president, Khevito T Shohe, and his team for making the project a success. Delivering the presidential address, Khevito T Shohe informed that the newly constructed cemetery has 165 chambers and added that over INR 1 crore was used for its construction.
