Announcer live where you live, this is abc7 news. We have a baby taken from a vehicle. Police radio dispatch puts San Francisco officers on alert to a baby kidnapping. Only on abc7 news was there when police rescued the child and arrested her alleged kidnapper. Good evening. Im kate larsen in for eric thomas. We begin tonight with the fast action that resulted in a happy reunion for that baby. Melanie woodrow is live at sfpd headquarters with details on how this ordeal for the babys parents ended with relief. Melanie . Reporter absolutely. San Francisco Police say this was a citywide joint effort to catch this suspect, and her choice of getaway transportation may have helped quite a bit. Within 30 minutes of getting a call for the kidnapping of this baby girl, police were patting down and cuffing a 36yearold suspect. Everybody got involved. This was a big deal. End. The family and that 1yearold boy are now reunited at the San Jose Police department, and they will be brought home. That happy reunion was made possible by a woman who lives here. This is mrs. Ramirez. This morning a child needed her help. I just picked up the baby out of the car seat and the boy took off. Reporter she lives in this rv with her husband and dogs in san jose. She didnt know there was an amber alert this morning for 8monthold emiliano salinas. He was in the back of his parents car, a 1992 White Honda Accord before 5 00 this morning when someone jumped in the drivers seat and took off. Mrs. Ramirez says the suspects nickname is turtle. It appeared the suspect appeared to be under the influence of drugs. We recognize him as someone who caused a lot of trouble. Reporter at around 8 00 this morning she says the suspect pulled up near her rv in the stolen vehicle and asked her to take the baby. I dont think the man knew he was taking a baby. Police have increased their presence on twin peaks. Theyre hoping that one of the many security cameras here captured yesterday mornings shooting might provide evidence. The Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a man who was hit and killed as he walked along highway 101 in South San Francisco this morning. Officers found the mans body on the shoulder of the freeway near oyster point after receiving a 911 call from a driver who reported hitting something just after 3 00 a. M. The driver actually returned to the scene to try to determine what he hit. Couldnt find naelg. Officers closed all southbound lanes until 5 30 this morning. Chp said drugs and alcohol were not a factor. A crash left two people injured in fremont. Southbound lanes were shut down in front of the Fremont Hub Shopping Center for a few hours. Two people we

A woman who lived inside, walnut and theodore streets. When that suspect that goes by the name of turtle knocked on her door frantically telling her he needed help with a baby. She didnt think he was serious. When she came out, she saw he was telling the truth. We jumped in the rv, and we had to go to the car and we see that its a baby. And were like, thats a baby. Whose baby is this . He said, take care of the baby and let me get out of here. I said, dont touch the baby. I dont care, im not letting him leave without this baby. Reporter the suspect is breaking into the white van that you see here to steal a scooter as he claims the van belongs to the suspects brother. About that time a worker at a nearby Construction Company notices this commotion, and when the woman noitifies him whats going on, he helps her get the baby out of the suspects car. The suspect drives off as police are driving away from the scene in the hopes of reuniting the baby with its family. The good news is the bab
