She didnt know there was an amber alert this morning for 8monthold emiliano salinas. He was in the back of his parents car, a 1992 White Honda Accord before 5 00 this morning when someone jumped in the drivers seat and took off. Mrs. Ramirez says the suspects nickname is turtle. It appeared the suspect appeared to be under the influence of drugs. We recognize him as someone who caused a lot of trouble. Reporter at around 8 00 this morning she says the suspect pulled up near her rv in the stolen vehicle and asked her to take the baby. I dont think the man knew he was taking a baby. Reporter she says the man also broke into this van and stole a scooter and took off in the same honda accord. A nearby worker called police. That moment she let her instincts kick in. The relationship between the babys family and the suspect sun known. A fathers effort to save his son from drowning cost him his own life. That father drowned yesterday in coyote creek in morgan hill. Investigators say they were told a man went into the water to help a kid, but, unfortunately, he did not come out. The victims son is okay. Firefighters describe the creek as having a fairly quick current. Now a breakig news update from south San Francisco after a deadly accident on highway 101 near oyster point. Officers say the driver was giving a friend a ride home when he hit something early this morning after dropping his passenger off in millbrae. He went back to the scene, didnt find anything. Officers though found the body of an older man on the shoulder of the highway forcing the freeway to shut down for a short while overnight. Firefighters in san jose are investigating what caused a car fire on sierra road that quickly spread to nearby brush. It was spotted around 4 00 yesterday morning. Cal fire says the grade fire has burned 900 acres and is just 25 contained. People living near highway 101 north of Redwood Valley are being evacuated. The fire began around 3 00 yesterday afternoon. And fire officials in Santa Barbara county expected to give updates on the Whittier Fire within just the next half hour. The fire burning near lake cochuma has destroyed at least 16 homes and 30 structures. The damage spans over 18,000 acres. Firefighters say its almost 50 contained at this point.
