Reporter good morning, what were learning this morning is that it was apparently a frantic sequence of events that led to that shooting but it happened in this area near eden avenue and d Cadillac Drive in san jose. Alameda police strongly denies that. We do not share the reader data base with i. C. E. It has been turned off. The chief says plate readers dont give them any personal identifying information. It doesnt tell me that car belongs to john smith. It doesnt tell me gender, race, religious background. Immigration status. According to the police chief for the last four years theyve only had license plate readers mounted like this on police cars. Thats not as effective because the camera can only scan a vehicle it drives close to. The license plate readers dont help police with paper plates. City council is set to vote on this issue tomorrow. Were riding with their mother was hit by a man allegedly fleeing police. Today that man was in court to face charges in this case. Henry lee live at the courthouse in martinez. Henry, the girls heartbroken father was there for todays proceedings . Reporter yeah. Ken and heather, that father walked silently as the defendant pleaded not guilty to charges he killed both of those two little girls. Now, that father, jesus cardoza, and his family had nothing to say as they left a martinez courthouse. Cardoza wore a tshirt with pictures of the daughters. The defendant seen in an earlier Court Appearance pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder as well as auto theft and evading arrest. His Attorney Says saucedo will be cleared of the charges. Its a horrible tragedy. He is tore up about it. He has been on suicide watch. I think at the end of the day, though, mr. Saucedo will be exonerated of all of these charges.
