Up in salem county, just to the east of Pennsville Salem is getting a lightning show this morning. Its heading towards woolwich and gloucester. A heavy shower is popping up over chester as well. Its a line of showers that extends now into bucks county. This leading edge is moving faster. Its moving to the northeast at 30 miles an hour. So it will quickly move through the area. Look at this heavy rainfall. The rain tapers off. The rain is already starting to settle down. Which is a sign these storms are weakening. But there is rain on the ground. It will take some time for the rain to come downhill towards lower lying roads and thats the potential for flash flooding. A warning is in effect. Hours. This was the first band of storms that moved through chester, montgomery and pushing past bucks county. Heavy rainfall Flash Flood Warnings in effect in those areas. Look at the heavy rainfall and lots of lightning just to the west of glassboro, glassboro seeing the heavy rainfall is moving towards gloucester right now and into camden county. This particular area of storms is reaching into south philadelphia producing heavy rain. Got some lightning there as well. Part of why weve issued a first alert weather day fmr today. Localized flooding is possible because of the heavy downpours and the threat of that will continue this afternoon. Weve already seen some severe thunderstorms this morning with the potentially damaging winds bringing down tree limbs and power lines. Cant rule that out later today either. Flood warnings in effect for pennsylvania and south jersey. Flash flooding can occur even after the heaviest rain has ended because it takes some time for the runoff to accumulate and cause the flooding. Be on the look jut for flooded streets this morning. Out the door on the blue route 14 minute drive times here all of the cars are green so good news. 14 minutes in both directions northbound or southbound. From 95 up towards the schuylkill expressway area bridges are currently fine so far this morning we are seeing two lanes blocked still heading westbound into philadelphia on the ben franklin bridge. A headsup this sunday coming up the ben franklin bridge closed from 6 30 a. M. Until 8 00 a. M. So find an alternate bridge to get into the city on sund
