The Commander of Royal Navy of Oman (CRNO) Rear Admiral Saif Al Rahbi will be on India visit from 14 to 18 February even as both sides increase military engagement.
The visit comes days after the visit of the Secretary-General of Omani Defence ministry, Mohammed Nasser Al Zaabi to India. Rear Admiral Saif's visit, who assumed charge last January is significant in terms of New Delhi's outreach to the new military leadership which was appointed under the new Sultan of Oman.
India and Oman in 2018 came to an agreement to give Indian access to the strategically important Port of Duqm for military use and logistical support. Oman's defence minister met India's Rajnath Singh on Tuesday, 1 February.
India and Oman are set to take defence ties to next level with a number of high-profile visits like by Omani Defence Ministry Secretary General Mohammed Nasser Al Zaabi.
Zaabi, who is the executive head of the Omani defence establishment, will visit India from January 30 to February 4.
