Konyak Union requests Nagaland government to set up 3 colleges in Mon

Dimapur, July 16 (EMN): The Konyak Union (KU) has appealed to the government of Nagaland to establish three more government colleges at Tizit, Aboi and Tobu, accommodate the ever-increasing number of college-going students in Mon district. In a press release, the union said that being one of the most populated districts, Mon “should not always be treated as equals with the rest of the districts in the state”. “Population ratio should always be taken into account while distributing developmental projects. It is high time that the Government of Nagaland understands this issue and take the matter seriously. The union cannot afford to see Mon district being left out as backward district even among the backward districts of the state,” read the press release. Mhathung inaugurates approach road in Wokha

Our Correspondent Wokha, July 9 (EMN):  Advisor of Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan, on Friday sought community participation for all round development instead of waiting for government agencies to come to their rescue. Speaking at the inauguration of Longtsung village approach road, which was constructed under LADP (2021-2022), Yanthan sought  for community participation instead of waiting for the government agencies to take up various minor works. Nagaland horti products have potential to be exported — Tomar

Our Reporter Dimapur, June 26 (EMN): Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare (MoA&FW), Narendra Singh Tomar on Sunday stated that Nagaland is rich in the horticulture sector, and its products have the potential to be exported outside Nagaland. However, farmers should ensure to produce enough quantity of quality products according to global standards to achieve that, he said, and added that if the products are good, they will get a good price, which would improve their living conditions. NASSA calls off strike for three days - Eastern Mirror

Our Correspondent Kohima, June 16 (EMN): The Nagaland Assembly Secretariat Staff Association (NASSA) and Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Thursday announced to temporarily suspend its ongoing agitation for three working days from June 17. This decision was conveyed by the JAC Secretary Sezoto Theyo and NASSA General Secretary, Talirenla following a joint meeting held on June 16, after a request was made by the seven-member Parliamentary Committee headed by MLA Dr. Chotisuh Sazo in a joint meeting with the staff association on June 15. Besides Sazo as the chairman, the other members of the committee were Metsubo jamir, Tongpang Ozukum, KT Sukhalu, Mhathung Yanthan, Medo Yokha and Khehovi Yeputhomi.  “The committee had assured in the meeting that the grievances of NASSA/JAC shall be addressed positively”, they stated.
