Nagaland news in brief: PDUW bans import of pig

PDUW bans import of pig DIMAPUR The Pig Dealers’ Union Wokha (PDUW), in its executive meeting held on April 27, decided to ban import of Assam local pigs starting from April 29. The ban on import of pig was necessitated as the rates are increasing due to Assam government’s ban on transportation of pigs through the state since March 13. The union has supported the Pork Butchers’ Union Dimapur and warned that it would take stern action against the defaulters. The union further appealed to the state government to address the issue at the earliest. Our Correspondent Wokha, Aug. 15 (EMN): Advisor of Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan, on Monday inaugurated the sub-division Horticulture office at Sanis under Wokha district. The inauguration programme was conducted after the celebration of the 75th Independence Day, where he was also the chief guest of the programme. Yanthan, speaking during the inauguration programme, expressed joy and dedicated the new establishment to the people of Naga in general and particularly to the people of the range, stating that with the inauguration of the new office at Sanis, development and progress would be seen through it. Our Correspondent Wokha, July 9 (EMN):  Advisor of Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan, on Friday sought community participation for all round development instead of waiting for government agencies to come to their rescue. Speaking at the inauguration of Longtsung village approach road, which was constructed under LADP (2021-2022), Yanthan sought  for community participation instead of waiting for the government agencies to take up various minor works. While underscoring the important role of the community, he called upon them to develop a sense of belonging for all round development in their areas. The advisor also asked the people to forgive one another and march ahead with transparency in the larger interest of the community.
