busy wednesday morning. we re keeping a close eye on capitol hill, where right now the nation s top intelligence officials are testifying about the biggest threats to worldwide security. we re learning more about the kidnapping of four americans in mexico. the two surviing victims are back on u.s. soil and now we re hearing from their families. plus, top republicans speaking out, criticizing tucker carlson s portrayal of the january 6th attack, but how speaker kevin mccarthy is defending releasing the tapes to fox news. also, dhs secretary alejandro mayorkas speaks out on whether the biden administration could bring back family detention centers. florida congresswoman debbie wasserman schultz weighs in. and we begin this very busy hour with a very latest on capitol hill, where right now lawmakers are hearing from top leaders in the intelligence community for their annual worldwide threats hearing. and this year, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are laser focused o
face backlash will survive it. and who are we facing backlash from honestly, it s people who i assume a year or two down the road if they re stopping at a gas station in the thirsty for beer, they re going to still buy the beer. okay but to be fair here, like there are some real serious issues here. you had a florida legislator this week, calling transgender people, mutants and demons and you have kid rock shooting beer cans because he s upset that they have someone who s transgender as a part of their you know, marketing campaign. what s happening is transgender people already filled targeted. they already face an outsized amount of violence. and here we are again. jennings something up for what for what? what is the endgame here, people exist. they should be able to exist in their bodies the way they are, and instead you re hearing these these horrible things about transgender people, and they are going to be targets of violence . the more this sort of thing happens. that i
mexico that the state art mint has put on a travel advisory list, saying that is on par with syria or going to iraq or afghanistan. and so that s the issue effectively. the cartels managed the territory. you know, we should note as we speak here tonight, the former head of the equivalent of the mexican fbi sits in american prison tonight because of his involvement with the cartels, so this is cartel territory. and you know, ultimately the cartels have said, you know, apologize. oh these were road guys, but ultimately this is the situation you re dealing with just a mile away from the u. s border. so is this who we have to treat with when we re dealing with the lives of american citizens. we got to go to the cartel and not the mexican government, not anglo their president. not so we have these faceless, nameless criminals that we have to deal with, and that s it. it worked. it worked because they turns out they when they realized that they had americans. they too, were spooked, but not
interestingly the mexican president this week said we re going to deal with the fentanyl issue to what extent he can is unclear. there was a trial recently of the head of the mexican fbi that we put on trial here that was in the pocket of the cartels. so there are issues across the border. i mean, that s a much more complicated international issue, but certainly something we need to deal with cultural aspect to it as well, right like there s the border. there s the narcan. and then there s the reason why people are taking drugs. and i think the cultural aspect of this conversation doesn t get enough oxygen demand. i mean, you have to also exactly thank you all very much for that. so some of the biggest names in tech are issuing a dire warning about artificial intelligence and between tools like chat gpt and social media algorithms. it s all happening very fast. we re going to get a pulse of the people across the generational spectrum. how do jen s ease feel about it? how about gen x is
