KAAC clarifies on eviction drive - Eastern Mirror

Our Correspondent Diphu, July 3 (EMN): Amarsing Tisso, Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) on Sunday clarified that the eviction drive being carried out on 35 families illegally settled inside District Judicial Court allotted land at Baliram Terang village, 4 km Lumding road was due to a High Court order and not due to the Chief Executive Member (CEM) or the KAAC. In a press conference held at Chief Executive Member (CEM) KAAC bungalow in Diphu, Tisso stated that ‘earlier, the judiciary was with the executive at the DC office. Our Correspondent Diphu, June 23 (EMN): Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) Tuliram Ronghang has been elected unopposed as Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) for a consecutive third term. Raju Tisso, Chairman of KAAC presided over the election for the post of CEM held at the KAAC session on Thursday. The chairman, while announcing the name for the post of CEM said, “As no other candidates are contesting for the post of CEM, I declare the name of MAC Tuliram Ronghang as CEM”. Our Correspondent Diphu, June 22 (EMN): Raju Tisso, former Executive Member and Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) was elected unopposed as the 29th chairman of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) at KAAC session hall in Diphu on Wednesday. Tisso had filed his nomination papers for the post of chairman, KAAC before the joint secretary (Legislative in charge) KAAC on Tuesday. As there was no other candidate contesting for the post, Tisso was elected unopposed. In Diphu town, various institutions, organisations and political parties observed IYD by organising yoga sessions and speeches on the importance of yoga for physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. Flash flood hits West Karbi Anglong - Eastern Mirror

Our Correspondent Diphu, June 16 (EMN): Several areas in West Karbi Anglong district have been affected by flash floods that occurred due to the incessant rain, while the affected people were shifted to relief camps. One of the local resident informed Eastern Mirror that the affected areas are Bhogirighat, Chengchengbill, Menmiji, Sildhubi, Khantajan, Tumpreng, Pharche Ali, Taradubi, Nam Taradubi and Lalmati.
