GUWAHATI: With the assembly elections round the corner, the daily wage of tea garden workers’ has become a major political issue for all parties.
Talks about this started with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi declaring in Sivasagar that his party will increase the daily wage from Rs 167 to Rs 365 if voted to power. Countering his remarks, BJP’s Assam co-in-charge Jitendra Singh on Thursday said the saffron party always cares about tea garden workers and will take necessary action to increase their wages.

The BJP has done a lot for their welfare since coming to power. Take the Union Budget for instance. It clearly indicates the BJP’s goodwill and commitment towards tea garden workers,” Singh said.
