Tigers Battle For Comeback Win at NC State

CLEMSON, S.C. – In its second ACC match of the season, the Clemson women’s soccer team (7-2, 2-0 ACC) came back from down one to capture a 2-1 win over NC State (4-4-2, 0-2 ACC) on Thursday night at Dail Soccer Field.  NC State attacked early as the Wolfpack netted a goal in just the eighth minute of the first half to gain the early lead. Clemson began picking up the offensive pressure on the Wolfpack in the latter third of the first half as Renee Lyles drew a foul in the penalty box in the 38th minute. Sophomore Megan Bornkamp successfully converted on the penalty kick to tie the score at one a piece heading into the second half.  The Tigers and Wolfpack battled to score the game winning goal throughout the second half until Renee Guion laid in a beautiful ball to Caroline Conti, who assisted Renee Lyles in the 85th minute to solidify the Tiger win. Behind Seven First-Half Goals, Clemson Defeats Saint Francis 8-0

CLEMSON, S.C. - Clemson kicked off its regular-season slate with an impressive 8-0 victory over the Saint Francis Red Flash on Thursday night at Historic Riggs Field.  The Tigers’ offensive attack exploded early on with Renee Lyles, Sydney Minarik and Grace Wagner all netting their first-career goals in the first 45 minutes. Sophomores Megan Bornkamp and Makenna Morris both added braces in the half as well, with Bornkamp’s goals coming off well-played corner kicks by Renee Guion. Juniors Maliah Morris and Caroline Conti each notched a pair of assists in the half. This was the most goals in a half for Clemson since the Tigers scored nine in the first half of a 14-0 win over Alabama A&M on September 22, 2013.  In the second half, midfielder Hal Hershfelt became the sixth Tiger to score on the evening by slotting home a goal in the 64th minute.
