Gary Manzer, who has been serving as interim director of the Willmar Public Works Department, received the Willmar City Council's approval Monday, May 2, to become the permanent director.
WILLMAR The road to approval wasn't necessarily smooth for Willmar's local option sales tax but it ended in victory. The Minnesota Legislature, following a one-day special session on May 24, approved the omnibus tax bill, which included Willma.
The Willmar City Council approved changes to the city's council wards, brought on by the updated population count from the 2020 census. Small changes were made to Wards 1, 2 and 3. Due to population growth, 284 people from Ward 3 were removed and moved into Wards 1 and 2, to better evenly distribute council representation across the city.
