The Minnesota Department of Transportation is working on finalizing plans for a U.S. Highway 12 project to run around downtown Willmar. The preliminary plans presented at the Willmar City Council meeting March 7, and supported by the council, included taking the current four-lane stretch of road and turning it into a three-lane corridor with a dedicated left turn lane. The hope is the change will reduce the number of crashes that occur.
Two boys added hundreds to donations for Pennies for Patients from two Willmar elementary schools. Levi Spencer and Hunter Butterfield, students at Roosevelt Elementary, found a variety of ways to each raise $500 for the charity.
