Kandiyohi County and the city of Willmar held a joint public information meeting Wednesday evening about redistricting and the realignment of the city council wards and county commissioner districts. Every 10 years, following the national census, redistricting is required at the national, state and local level to make sure the population is equally represented.
Leslie Valiant, city administrator for the city of Willmar, had a positive six-month performance review. The Willmar City Council also approved a salary increase, based on that performance.
Also on Tuesday, the council will consider a salary increase for City Administrator Leslie Valiant based on performance, as per the employment agreement with her.
A proposed airport apron expansion project, in conjunction with a private hangar addition, could open the Willmar Municipal Airport to larger planes. The Willmar City Council approved a professional services agreement with Bolton & Menk to do engineering and design services for the apron project.
Cash Wise Foods in Willmar held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Feb. 9, to mark the completion of a multi-month renovation at the store. Coborn's CEO and the company's COO as well as Willmar business and government leaders attended the celebration, as did a large crowd of Cash Wise employees and shoppers.
