More than 300 people in both countries were killed. More than 2,800 people were in injured and most of the injuries were in iran. Hena doba is in new york with more. Good morning, hena. Good morning, annemarie. The 7. 3 magnitude quake was centered along the northern border between iran and iraq. Magnitude 7 quakes are capable of widespread heavy damage. The worst damage appears to be in the mountains of western iran. At least 14 provinces in iran were affected. The quake was so powerful, it was felt as far west as the mediterranean coast. Most of the victims are in a town ten miles from the border where the main hospital was severely damaged. Some villages lost power and communications.
