Today the jury will continue deliberations at 9 this morning in the trial of a man accused of fatally stabbing his former girlfriend. On friday, the jury heard closing arguments and started to discuss their decision on the case. The prosecution says 33yearold Nicholas Luerkens ambushed and stabbed his former girlfriend several times in the marion hyvee parking lot. They say there is clear and overwhelming evidence that he planned 29yearold Lynnsey Donalds murder back in april. While the defense admits luerkens did stab her multiple times, they say he was in an extreme depressive state. It contends that luerkens was overusing anti depressant medication at the time.
