One member of the iowa board of regents says they may have dropped the ball when they chose Bruce Harreld to be the next president. Regent Subhash Sahai commented after protestors stormed the regents meeting yesterday, harreld and the entire board to step down. Sahai is a doctor from webster city. He said the board may have mishandled the Selection Process for the new president. And he says the regents need more time and more Background Information before making such decisions. Sahai hopes that harreld, in his words, makes us all shine and proud of his selection. He urged the university to give the former ibm executive a chance, even though he has no Academic Leadership experience. The Dubuque City Council has approved an addition to an athletic building on the university of dubuque campus. Our media partner kd th reports the council had to sign off on a change to the schools institutional district. A University Spokesman says the addition will create more locker room space. Dubuques Planning Services manager says the addition is not expected to bring any increased traffic or parking to the campus. A new park is coming to the southwest side of cedar rapids. 300thousand dollars in resource enhancement and protection or reap funds are helping create a Neighborhood Park at 21hundred wilson avenue southwest not too far from van buren elementary school. The city identified this area as deficient in green space for the public to use. The plan includes trails, native prairie, educational signage and natural playscape. Its an exciting thing. An iowa judge has dismissed a lawsuit challenging an oil pipeline through iowa. Three landowners questioned the iowa utilities boards authority to give the power of Eminent Domain to the pipelines outofstate developer. Exhaust the administrative remedies required before they may sue a state agency. The judge did not rule on whether Dakota Access is eligible for Eminent Domain. Polished but these students are especially curious to see the welding theyre taking a class right now. Many companies are telling them the same thing. The general consensus is they need welders. There are not enough people that are going and learning that. They are willing to pay you right out of high school, they will teach you and its really cool. A lot of times when people think about manufacturing they think of how it was 25 30 years ago. But manufacturing.
