Four contests emerged among elective-officer positions up for grabs in Swampscott s 2021 municipal election, said Town Clerk Susan Duplin after she certified candidates nomination papers.  Barring candidates withdrawing their names, voters will see a mixture of political newcomers and incumbents who will be contested and uncontested on the Tuesday, April 27 municipal election ballot. Atlantic Avenue resident Charlie Patsios and incumbent Michael McClung will compete for a yearlong term as Swampscott town moderator. Incumbent Peter Spellios faces a challenge from Elmwood Road resident Mary Webster for a three-year term on the Swampscott Board of Selectmen.

Swampscott news in brief for the week of March 1, 2021 Town offices closed  Papers to run in 2021Swampscott election now available  For the spring 2021 municipal election, Swampscott residents can pull nomination papers to run for town-officer positions and Town Meeting seats.   Eight town-officer positions and at least 108 Town Meeting seats are up for grabs in the Tuesday, April 27 municipal election.   Due to the COVID pandemic, Swampscott Town Hall, 22 Monument Ave., is operating by appointment-only until further notice. Residents must make arrangements with Swampscott Town Clerk Susan Duplin s office either by calling 781.596.4167 or by emailing sduplin@swampscottma.gov to pick up nomination papers

Swampscott s 2021 election season is earnestly getting underway: As of press time, a half-dozen residents had pulled nomination papers from Swampscott Town Clerk Susan Duplin’s office for town-officer seats.  In this election cycle, eight town-officer seats and at least 108 Town Meeting member seats open up in the Tuesday, April 27 municipal election.  For the three-year term opening on Swampscott Board of Selectmen, Mary Webster of Elmwood Road pulled nomination papers, setting up a potential challenge against Peter Spellios.  Spellios, the chairman of and the most senior member serving on the Swampscott Board of Selectmen, has pulled papers for re-election to a third terms.
