Historic upgrades to St Maryâs School have now commenced, with the multimillion-dollar project to unite the lower and upper campuses for the first time ever.
The demolition of two general areas and the existing administration area will make way for new spaces including eight learning areas, a multipurpose area, and a covered lunch area.
Development at the Warwick school began this week, with the Federal Government contributing more than $4.5 million to the constructionâs total cost.

LL: THE future of Stanthorpe netball has been secured as construction begins on new multipurpose courts, worth more than $150,000.
“It was very exciting to see that it’s finally happening,” she said.
“The previous committee had plotted out the plans about four years ago and then last year we put our heads together to make some progress and that’s when we finally secured the grant.”
Prior to that, the association was playing on courts at Stanthorpe State High and St Joseph’s School, as the McGregor Park courts became “unsafe”.
“It was basically three grass courts with one bitumen court that was cracking and had grass growing through,” Vedelago said.

MOTORSPORTS: The Warwick Dragway is set to become a national-grade facility and one of the stateâs biggest racing venues, thanks to a huge $1.9 million funding boost.
After several events were claimed by coronavirus restrictions, including the clubâs massive 20th Dragfest anniversary, vice president John Loy said the upgrades would prove vital to their 2021 comeback.
âIt feels excellent, itâs unbelievable actually. Itâs a great Christmas present for the drag racing community and our whole local community,â Loy said.
âWe missed out on our 20th anniversary for the drag strip this year, so next year will be a big one, and weâll be able to host national-grade events with the upgrades,â Loy said.

The Warwick drag strip is set to undergo significant upgrades, following the announcement of close to $2 million in funding
It is one of 12 projects announced by the Australian and Queensland governments, to support local economic recovery in parts of Queensland that were hit hard by the 2019-20 bushfires.
Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said it would be a great boost for the community.
“This $1.9 million investment will upgrade the existing 1/8 mile drag strip at Morgan Park to a national standard 1/4 mile facility, which will attract larger and more regular race meets to the region,” he said.
