Former acting SDRC CEO announces sudden resignation

Premium Content Subscriber only After years in executive roles at Southern Downs Regional Council, former acting CEO Jane Stroud has announced her sudden resignation in line with the organisation’s “new direction”. Mrs Stroud was appointed as the council’s director of sustainable development in 2018, and in that time led her team through a range of strategic and community endeavours. SDRC CEO Dave Burges said the former director and acting CEO originally applied for a contract renewal, but they eventually came to an agreement that “the region would benefit from fresh changes at the executive level”. “Change is part of every organisation, and often new leadership brings new direction,” Mr Burges said.

SOUTHERN WATER ALLIANCE Councillors will vote at Wednesday’s meeting on whether to join the new Southern Inland Queensland and Northern NSW Border Regional Water Alliance Limited. Based on discussions at the group’s second meeting in February, it was decided the best way to achieve tangible long-term water security and infrastructure was to form a company limited by guarantee. SDRC will this week vote on becoming a member of the company and appointing the Mayor as a director. It is understood the alliance would not have budgetary implications until the 2021-22 financial year. Pratten residents urged to shape community s future

The Urban Design Framework developed by Southern Downs Regional Council and town planners Ethos Urban has reached its final design phases, and is now set to be reviewed by the Pratten community at a public workshop on Tuesday. “(These were) reinforcing local identity, township improvements and upgrades, and fostering a cohesive and active community,” the spokeswoman said. Southern Downs Mayor Vic Pennisi encouraged all Pratten residents to have their say and contribute to the future of their proud village.

Hundreds of Rose City veterans, students, and community members proudly represented their town and their connection to Anzac history at a range of ceremonies including the Dawn Service, War Graves Service, and Anzac Day March and Service. After being limited to driveway services during COVID in 2020, crowds filled Palmerin St and the Leslie Park Cenotaph precinct for the first time in two years.
