ifredregill@altoonamirror.com While executing multiple search warrants throughout Tyrone Borough, law enforcement agencies located nearly $7,000 worth of illicit drugs, a loaded handgun and about $2,650 in cash, Tyrone Borough police reported. Tyrone resident Richard A. Ewing, 42, was taken into custody as a result of the operation, a Blair County Drug Task Force news release stated. Police approached Ewing after he exited his home about 5 p.m. Wednesday while agents from the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office conducted a warranted search of Ewing’s residence on the 1300 block of Blair Avenue, court documents stated. While searching Ewing’s person, police discovered he was carrying a bag, which contained 2 ounces of methamphetamine, $330 in cash, a bag containing psilocybin mushrooms and a loaded handgun, a criminal complaint stated. Ewing’s prior criminal record prohibits him from possessing a firearm in Pennsylvania, according to court documents.

Stewart A convicted felon is facing firearms-related charges after allegedly lying to Freedom Township police Thursday about owning a handgun found in his car, court documents stated. Martinsburg resident George Stewart, 70, was arraigned Thursday by Magisterial District Judge Fred Miller on charges of possession of a firearm while prohibited and carrying a firearm without a license, according to court documents. Just after midnight Thursday, Freedom Township police received a call about an inebriated man, allegedly Stewart, trying to purchase alcohol at a Sheetz store, police reported. When the responding officer arrived at the location, a person informed him a man later identified as Stewart drove away headed toward Roaring Spring, a criminal complaint stated.

Police: Suspect violated PFA order | News, Sports, Jobs

Walk Police arrested a Hollidaysburg man Wednesday after he allegedly violated a protection-from-abuse order and entered a woman’s house while she was sleeping, court documents stated. Paul K. Walk, 37, was arraigned Thursday by Magisterial District Judge Fred Miller on charges of terroristic threats, stalking, harassment and criminal mischief, according to court documents. The victim told Altoona police when she went to bed Wednesday night, Walk was not in the residence, but she awoke a short time later to find him standing over her despite a PFA prohibiting him from being near her, police reported. As she awoke, the victim and Walk began arguing, then Walk allegedly took her phone from her hand.
