Bay area. Im Vicki Liviakis and im grant lotus but the man we really need to know is our chief meteorologist Lawrence Karnow because if this weather is going to stick around lawrence tells us going to get that yeah i think its going to get better just going to be slow going this is going to be just slowly. Stay. I think we saw some improvement up above we had some mix in the atmosphere bit. Little more sunshine pop up in spots still some very poor air quality no getting around it that sits there tonight you can see up toward sfo you see the light you see all the smoke down below and as we look toward the Golden Gate Bridge weve got some fog rolling on shore thats good. Unfortunately. It just kind of a thin marine layer so there again nice pressure off the ocean but that is just mixing with some of the smoke out there as well and theyre just so small so much smoke around right now back weve got some very poor air quality in quite rapidly in fact last hour it was all across the bay into
Grant lotus. And im Vicki Liviakis thanks for joining us for kron 4 news at 8 the highly unusual sight all across the bay area skies. Its just better. All people are talking about today indeed taking a live look outside right now across the bay from the bay bridge to the Golden Gate Bridge. The san mateo bridge to the richmond sandra fell bridge. It looks normal right now, but all day. It was just about as dark run for chief meteorologist Lawrence Karnow begins our Team Coverage explaining. What weve been witnessing in how long the skies could stay like this lawrence whats going on yet let my entire life here in california have never seen a day like today wake up to the orange skies and certainly. Was concern looking at the maps though you can see where it came from not the more fires locally but number we have the paradise fire a few years back that but all the smoke in the bay area will now weve got another fire near theyre called the bear fire. Weve also got the august complex and t

Unsettling to wake up to hard to know what time it was all day long want to check in first with our chief meteorologist Lawrence Karnow. Obviously everyones wondering lawrence is going to happen again tomorrow. Yeah i think well start to see some improvement tomorrow were not going to see asked smoky conditions around the bay area but certainly. Theyll still be some smoke out there we had those north northeasterly winds remember were talking about the high fire danger yesterday, were worried about the real gusty winds. Well, those winds didnt cause or sparking fires around the bay area but we did have a fires that were already burning in far Northern California up you county near paradise they another fire burning there the bear fire lot of smoke filtering i
Look at still winds across the region all the smoke is going to start start to settle down in the bay and that means worsening air quality likely over the next couple of days that smoke is of being pushed anywhere because winds have calmed down so much right now were in the 50s and 60s for your current temperatures with a word in oakland at 63. Concord and Fairfield Beach at 58 while dublin and livermore 57 to kick off this morning. As we look at wind speeds across the bay area you see how calm things are that northerly flow that brought us the smoke, its all but gone at this point. Now we just have a weak onshore. Wind that is pushing in just a touch of fog at the coast. That likely has a bit of smoke imbedded in as well as we do look at calm winds that smoke is it going to be pushed anywhere else so now its just settled right here in the bay area meaning likely to be hazy skies well through the afternoon. These hazy skies. Theyre going to keep temperatures cool way cooler than we hav
