Netflix released the second part of Selena: The Series on Tuesday with nine episodes showcasing the late singer s life.
While many have seen the 1997 film, the series gives a more detailed, inside look at the Queen of Tejano s family and friends.

Quintanilla Family
Abraham Quintanilla Jr. and Marcella Quintanilla are the parents of A.B. Quintanilla III, Suzette Quintanilla and Selena Quintanilla-Pérez. When they were children, Abraham heard Selena s voice and was inspired to form a band out of his kids. A.B. learned how to play the bass and Suzette rocked out on the drums. Growing up, they traveled performing at shows and recording albums as a family.

Selena Quintanilla and Chris Pérez were the definition of true love. The two first crossed paths in the early 90s when the guitarist joined the Tejano singer s band, Selena y Los Dinos, and they began secretly dating shortly after. We got to live a fast and crazy life as kids, Chris previously told
Entertainment Tonight. I believe I was 20 when we first started getting serious with each other. Despite the fact that Selena s father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., disapproved of their relationship, Selena and Chris eventually eloped at a Texas courthouse on April 2, 1992. Selena and I decided that the only way to be together . . . was to run away and get married (at 20 and 22 years old) in secret, Chris wrote on Facebook in 2017. What a rollercoaster ride THAT day was.
After the lackluster first season, it’s fun to see a slightly more complicated version of Selena. The singer is relentless about pursuing a fashion career, pushing forward with her plans to open a boutique even when her husband, sister, and father tell her they think she won’t be able to handle it all. At one point, when she tells Abraham about the boutique, he tries to tell her that singing has always been her dream. Selena quickly counters, “I have many dreams.” Like it or not, Selena is just as ambitious and strong-willed as her father, and in season two, we see that she’s confident enough to prove it.
