Headlines for Monday, August 14th

FNB in Fairfield will have limited lobby access on Tuesday, August 16 and Wednesday, August 17 due to installation of a new HVAC system. The west parking lot will be closed both days, but drive-thru traffic will exit on the north side of the west lot. Customers wishing to enter the bank should park near and enter the north or east doors. In addition, the bank lobby will be closed from approximately 11:30am until 1pm on Tuesday, 8/16 during the removal of the old system. It is anticipated the lobby will be closed for another hour on Wednesday, 8/17 for installation of the new equipment. Customers can access services by using the bank's drive-thru during this time. The boil order previously issued on August 12th for the 100 block of Wilson Street in Fairfield has been lifted, according to the city's Facebook page. The Ten-Mile Missionary Baptist Church in McLeansboro, IL will be hosting the Gospel Music Hymn Sing crew on Sunday evening August 14th at 6:00 p.m. This evening of music and entertainment is centered around the familiar hymns of the church. Under the direction of John and Judy Roberts, participants include many personalities from the very popular homecoming Gospel Choir musical experience. The Ten-Mile Missionary Baptist Church is located at 11725 Ten-Mile Road just west of McLeansboro, IL. Admission to the concert is free. A love offering will be received. On 08/12/22, at 1:44 AM, Fairfield Police responded to 112 Highland Avenue, Fairfield on a Domestic Battery complaint. The investigation resulted in Jason R Pfaff, 39 of Fairfield, being arrested for battering his wife Misty L Paff, 44 of Fairfield. He was transported to the Wayne County Jail and lodged pending a bond hearing on a charge of Domestic Battery. Misty refused medical treatment. On 08/12/22, at 12:25 AM, Fairfield Police discovered an unresponsive male in a vehicle on the Methodist Church parking lot at 100 W Main Street, Fairfield. The investigation identified the driver as Hunter W White, 22 of Bluford, IL. After indications of possible impairment, White submitted to Field Sobriety Exercises and was determined to be under the influence. He was placed under arrest for being in physical control of a vehicle while Under the Influence (DUI) and transported to the Wayne County Jail where he provided a breath sample that indicated a Blood Alcohol of .091. The city of Fairfield Water department has advised a boil order in affect for the 100 block of W Wilson Street per the cities facebook page last night. Water used for human consumption should be boiled until samples have passed inspection. On 08/11/22, at 2:12 AM, Fairfield Police, along with Wayne County Deputies, responded to Mach 1, 800 W Main Street, Fairfield, IL on a report of a physical altercation at that location. Following an investigation, Joshua W Poff, 37 of Flora, IL was placed under arrest by Fairfield Officers for Aggravated Battery against Brandon PJ Wheeler, 18 of McLeansboro, IL. He was transported to the Wayne County Jail and lodged pending a court appearance for setting of bond. Additional charges are pending. Fairfield Police are investigating an incident over the past weekend where a black 1000 Jeep Cherokee that was parked on the parking lot at 901 SW 4th Street, Fairfield, IL was turned over onto it's top. Last Friday a Carmi man filed a theft report saying that his car had been stolen. 64 year old Mark Winters told the White County Sheriff's Department that his silver 2005 GMC Yukon had been stolen sometime between August 1st and August 5th. Winters stated that there is a 4 inch by 4 inch section of the chrome plated bumper that was missing on either the front or back bumper of the vehicle. No more information about this case has been made available at this time. The Clay County Board moved swiftly through their agenda during Tuesday evening's regular monthly meeting at the Clay County Courthouse in Louisville.
