police just confirm moments ago, that there are three confirms fatalities, and addition to the five victims are in the hospital right now. some with life-threatening injuries. and you, know i m sorry stephanie, your son is safe where he is. is he with? you know, he s not, he s in his apartment. and for those who are trying to get a sense, these dorms, our dorm secure, our dorms easily locked? you know in the campus, and i realize you re not on campus, you re not a law enforcement expert. but for those who are saying, my kids, my teens, they re in their dorm room, are these buildings safe? i think that under these circumstances, law enforcement is doing everything within their power, to ensure that people are safe. and that under these circumstances, that they stay safe. and so i feel confident in that
it s up to us. after this, like i said, we ve had the police chief, the d.a. to do their jobs. i want to go on listening tours here in the city of memphis to hear from our constituents. hearing from them and putting things into action i think that s going to demonstrate that we are listening to them. i m not a law enforcement expert but i m willing to listen to any and everybody whether it s here locally, experts outside the city of memphis, to bring some best practices and best ideas to the table. and then from that standpoint it s left to the council to enact them but i think that will go a long way to try to rebuild trust and giving our community a sense that their voices are being heard. do you have full confidence in the chief of police to address any problems in her department? well, i m going to give her the benefit of the doubt.
