Updated: 4:48 PM EDT May 6, 2021 WASHINGTON The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of more than 200,000 Kidde TruSense smoke alarms and combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarms due to a defect that could cause them to fail to alert consumers to a fire. The recall involves an estimated 226,000 units, the CPSC said. The affected units are Kidde Model Series 2040, 2050, 2060, and 2070 Smoke and Combination Smoke/Carbon Monoxide alarms, according to the CPSC. Only alarms with the TruSense logo or “AMBER=FAULT” printed on the front of the alarm are included in the recall, the CPSC said. The model number is printed on the back of the alarm.

Arcata Fire District press release: McKinleyville, CA - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has shared a recall of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms that may fail to alert properly. Kidde has recalled about 226,000 of its TruSense smoke and combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarms that can fail to alert consumers to a fire. The recalled units are Kidde Model Series 2040, 2050, 2060 and 2070. Only alarms with the TruSense logo of “AMBER=FAULT” printed on the front of the alarm are included in the recall. The model numbers are printed on the back of the alarms. Anyone with a recalled alarm should immediately contact Kidde for a free replacement.
