According to an announcement with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, about 226,000 of the alarms were sold at Walmart, Home Depot, Menards and other department, home and hardware stores and electrical distributors nationwide, and online at Amazon.com, ShopKidde.com and other online retailers from May 2019 through September 2020 for between $10 and $70.
The model number is printed on the back of the alarm.

Anyone who owns one of these alarms should immediately contact Kidde for a free replacement.
Consumers should keep using the recalled alarms until they install replacement alarms.

(CNN) - Kidde is recalling 226,000 smoke detectors, stating they fail to alert customers to fires.
Affected models in the recall include Kidde Model Series 2040, 2050, 2060 and 2070 smoke and their combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarms. Some of the models will have the TruSense logo or “AMBER=FAULT” on the front.
The recalled models were sold at WalMart, Home Depot, Menards and Amazon between May 2019 and September 2020.

Kidde is voluntarily recalling about 226,000 smoke alarms and combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms over concerns that they can fail to alert users to a fire.
The company and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission identified seven affected models on Thursday, advising that customers with those units contact Kidde for a free replacement alarm.
The recalled models are: Kidde Model Series 2040, 2050, 2060 and 2070 smoke and combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarms. The alarms were primarily sold at Walmart, The Home Depot, Amazon.com and Menards from May 2019 through September 2020.
