More than 6 Million People will be flying this Holiday Weekend. A million of them will be flying in or out of San Francisco, oakland or san jose airports in. Airport Officials Say they are expecting the longer lines at security and also at checkin as well as heavy traffic getting into the airport. They are saying its worth braving the line. Live at San Francisco superior court with the very latest. Anne. Reporter yeah. The sentencing was just handed down about 20 minutes ago. Three years in state prison for the man who killed kate steinle who fired the gun. He is not going to be in jail here any longer because he already served that time. So he is now going to be handed over to the federal government to face charges. Let me take you back. In late november, Jose Ines Garcia zarate found not guilty of murder and manslaughter in the 2015 killing of kate steinle in San Franciscos pier 14. But he was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. So thats what the sentencing today was for, the maximum sentence, three years in prison. But he has already served almost three years because he has been jail since he killed kate steinle. So instead of being released, the Sheriffs Department says he is going to be turned over to the u. They received the call from the victim that transported themselves to San Francisco general. The Highway Patrol is currently investigating and looking for evidence on the freeway at this time. Reporter you can hear from that chp officer, there there were no ambulances on the scene. But they did get the call of the freeway shooting at 280. And they came here and found several of those shell casings still on scene, investigating. And this freeway here. These southbound lanes will be shut down for the next several hours. Chp officers tell me, anywhere between 1 to 3 hours. So that will affect your morning commute. Essentially, going to exit here and get right back on the on ramp, after this closure.
