Police in new zealand have confirmed that theyre planning to head back to white island tomorrow to recover the bodies of those killed by a volcanic eruption on monday. At least eight people are known to have died, and another nine are missing, presumed dead. The recovery operation has been hampered by ongoing volcanic activity on the island. We know this happened well within french waters. We know it actually happened on a canal some 30 kilometres or so from the coastline itself. We have seen footage of the canal in question, the water level is very high. It is a wide waterway, flanked on one side by forests and on the other by some homes.
