Where the parade is about to get underway. Reporter the energy is high, the crowds are huge. We have huge people here. Tons of people have already come out. We are Getting Started in a few minutes, Cirque Du Soleil will be opening up the parade. There are dancers and singers, we looking at some of the floats that you will see on the ra preyed route. This is year of the rooster, you see this beautiful display here. You are going to see tons of colored floats. The come tombs are incredible. One float is an interactive route. You can use your smart phone fo change the colors on the float. To change the colors on the float. We are seeing two to 300 volunteers here, they are needed to make the parade possible. Rose, who is important in San Francisco chinese politics, passed away last year, so its a little different but there are tons of people. Happy new year rob. Or more specifically,. [ speaking Foreign Language ] reporter well said. People were thankful the weather cooperated. This brought large crowd to downtown San Francisco. No one left disappointed today. The annual Chinese New Year parade started off with a bang and when the smoke cleared it snaked its way up to market street. It was a celebration of old and new. And i have always felt have privileged to be the first ms. Chinatown usa. Reporter some of the beauty today rode in trolley cars as other ms. Chinatowns shared in the honors. Im proud of our rich heritage. My father came from china in 1950. We are very proud to be here as chinese americans. Reporter one thing that hasnt let the fans down is the Chinese New Year parade are the wonderful colors. It is the year of the rooster. Just take a look. A bunch of black belts dressed up as roosters. Yes, we can be wicked animals. [ laughter ] reporter more than 100 groups wore elaborate costumes. Some were show stoppers

Stopped service after a fallen tree blocked the tracks near the balboa park station. The Hayward Fire Department shared this picture showing a large tree that toppled on to b. A. R. T. s tracks there. That stopped trains between hayward and south hayward. Service has been restored between Pleasant Hill and concord after debris was cleared from the tracks.
