T. s tracks there. That stopped trains between hayward and south hayward. Service has been restored between Pleasant Hill and concord after debris was cleared from the tracks. Oakland airport Connector Service is also stopped because of a power outage. The weather is causing delays on muni. Downed trees are said to be causing problems for several lines. Ferry service was available this morning but not this evening. High winds forced the cancellation of all Ferry Service across the bay. Waters just too rough. Buses will be provided instead. Two people were killed by fallen trees in separate incidents, following winds above 60 miles an hour that also toppled power lines. This happened in the butte county town of paradise. At least 7,000 people are without power in that small town which is about 14 miles outside of checo. Lets get to abc 7 meteorologist sandhya patel for the latest. As you take a look here, a northnorth easterly wind gusting to 48 at sfo, 38 in livermore, 45 in oakland, and just over 30 miles an hour in san jose santa rosa. Sfo is reporting arrival delays of almost two hours due to the wind. Wind advisory remains up until noon tomorrow. So trees and power lines may continue to topple. As you take a look at this live picture from the kgo roof camera you can see the trees and flags being whipped around by the wind and a shaky camera. When you take a look at some of the wind reports around the bay area, we have actually doubled the number of wind reports now 47 causing trees to go down power lines to go down. The wind has knocked down power lines all around the bay area leaving at least 50,000 pg e customers without electricity. The most outages are in the south bay, where 24,000 customers are in the dark. 15,000 are without power in the east bay. The north bay reporting about 10,000 power outages. About 600 customers, thats it are without electricity on the peninsula. The high winds are taking a toll on trees that are in soil still soaked from heavy rains. A high wind warning went up alerting drivers of gusts reaching 40 miles an hour on the bay bridge. The wind forced happy hallow park zoo in san jose to close early. Discovery kingdom was open but had to close most of its roller coasters because the wind made them unsafe to operate. Todays winds forced planes to approach San Francisco from a different angle than usual. Incoming flights flew over mill bray and u. S. Highway 101 instead of over San Francisco bay. Some pilots even landed at an angle to compensate for todays winds. Its always creepy if you are on a plane that has to do that. A south San Francisco man has been arrested for planting a hidden camera in an employeeonly restroom at work. He is charged with invasion of privacy and using a concealed camera without consent. He is the night manager of fine foods in palo alto. The woman who works at the store says she found the camera while using the private restroom. Police think she is the only victim. Police in union city need your help identifying this guy. They say these new surveillance photos show a man suspected of taking pictures of women with an Electronic Device in the womens restroom at a walmart. It happened on december 16th. By the time Police Responded the man ran out of the store. Police have broken up a suspected Identity Theft ring run out of a hotel room. Police arrested three people. They found computers and emboss embossing machine, fake credit cards. Police are contacting everybody who might have been a victim. Another vehicle recall has been announced and again an ignition switch is involved. Chrysler is recalling just under 70,000 2006 and 2007 pickup trucks when the ignition is turned a wire can break. The recall involves dodge dakota, dodge ram 1500, 2500 and 3500s as well as a mitsubishi raider pickup. In 2014 as it comes to a close, time to start thinking about the irs and taxes. There were concerns that last minute laws passed by congress and signed by the president would delay this years tax season but the irs says it has its act together and will start accepting tax returns on january 20th. The centers for Disease Control have officially declared this years flu an epidemic. 15 children have died of complications from the flu so far. The number of states reporting a high amount of influenza like activity has increased to 32 since last weeks report from the centers for Disease Control. Outbreaks are in every region of the country. There is something unusual going on with the flu. For the past four years, flu has started to peak at the end of december. It used to be that flu didnt have its rise until february or early march. But for some reason, flu has been coming earlier and earlier and hitting during that holiday season. One reason the flu season is particularly bad this year is that this years flu shot does not match the major strain thats causing the majority of cases spreading across america. Despite that, doctors advise getting a flu shot because they say its not too late to do so. Fire officials are investigating a suspicious fire at an Elementary School in south san jose that broke out shortly after 10 00 last night. Investigators found one of the portable buildings in flames and put it out before it could spread. School officials are assessing the damage. Students are out on winter break. New details tonight on a Christmas Day robbery at yountvilles French Laundry restaurant. Thieves jimmied a door at the wine room. Reports say they got away with 76 bottles worth at least 300,000. Most are highly collectible and trade mostly on the private and auction markets. The chef and owner Thomas Keller is asking for help from the Wine Community in finding the thieves.
