Pork still too pricey? Eat fish, beans, and eggs–DA – Manila Bulletin

May isda, soy beans at siyempre ang pinakamura sa lahat, itlog (Pork and chicken aren’t the only sources of protein. There’s fish, soy beans, and of course the cheapest of all, eggs),” Reyes said during an online press briefing. Reyes, who holds the position of assistant secretary, admitted that pork vendors in the metropolis still charge up to P350 a kilo amid the hog shortage. 

Village chief slain in Camarines Norte town

(Jun Ryan Arañas / MANILA BULLETIN FILE PHOTO) Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Police Regional Office-5 (PRO-5) spokesperson, identified the victim as Geoffrey Castillo, 58, of Barangay Macogon.   The report said the victim and his wife were sleeping when the gunmen knocked on their house’s door, pretending to be villagers seeking assistance at around 12:30 a.m.   “The victim upon opening the door, one of the attackers armed with a handgun fired several shots and hit the victim in different parts of his body,” Calubaquib said.   The suspects fled after the attack. The victim died while being rushed to the Camarines Norte Provincial Hospital in Daet town.

Senior surrenders after killing, wounding neighbors in Las Piñas

Las Piñas Police chief Col. Rodel Pastor said Francisco surrendered after he was tracked by the police while he was hiding with his relatives in Tagaytay City. Pastor said Francisco went into hiding after shooting to death Ricky Dimatulac, 50, and seriously wounding Dominic Duclayan, 38 – both neighbors of the suspect. Dimatulac was pronounced dead on arrival at the University of Perpetual Help Hospital while Duclayan is still under observation. After the shooting, Francisco immediately fled on board his Ford Everest vehicle. Francisco told the police that before the incident, he confronted Duclayan over the loud noise created by his motorcycle.

Gun-for-hire leader killed in Bulacan shootout

Cajipe, Bulacan police director, by the Chief of Bulacan Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Lt, Col. Luke P. Ventura, the slain suspect was identified as Rey De Luna.  Ventura said the Bulacan CIDG, together with the Pandi police, conducted a buy-bust operation. During the transaction, the suspect, upon noticing  that he was dealing with police operatives, ran inside his house and fired at the policemen. A brief exchange of gunfight ensued that led to the death of De Luna.  Recovered from the suspect were two units of cal .38 revolvers, eight live ammunition for cal .38; one fired cartridge of cal .9mm, one fired cartridge of cal .38, and the buy-bust money.

Ex-cop gunned down in Cebu City

(Jun Ryan Arañas / MANILA BULLETIN FILE PHOTO) Police Cpl. Rodel Demaangay, 40, died on the spot after suffering multiple gunshot wounds in the head and body. The attack happened a few meters from the victim’s house. Police Capt. Jonathan Dela Cerna, chief of the Labangon police, said the policeman was sitting by the road in Sitio Bliss when two men on a motorcycle arrived. The motorcycle riders stopped in front of victim, and, without a word, started firing at him. The gunmen, who wore full-faced helmets, drove off after the attack. At least 30 shells of .45 caliber and 9mm pistols were recovered in the crime scene, Dela Cerna.
