It was in this courthouse in palo alto that the swimmer brock turner was sentenced to six months in jail for Sexual Assault and this morning the Santa Clara County district attorney, jeff rosen, whose office tried this case, he pushed for legislation that he helped write, a new law, if passed, would make sure that no one like brock turner gets a light sentence again. This would make probation no longer an option for people convicted of Sexual Assault of an unconscious or drunk person. The mandatory minimum would be three years in jail. Up to eight years, as the law currently stands, jail time is only mandatory in cases in which the victim is conscious. Brock turner was convicted of Sexual Assault back in 2015 and last month this Santa Clara County superior judge, aaron persky sentenced brock turner to six months in jail which he will get half of that sentence if Good Behavior which has cause an uproar. Some marin county parents thought their kids are going out to an outing in San Francisco, instead, they were planning a party with alcohol and drugs.
